Search Engine Marketing
A search engine takes text from a web page and stores it in a database. When a surfer
submits search words, the engine searches its database to present pages it thinks will
best match what the surfer is looking for.
Here are some suggestions on how to get traffic from search engines.
1. Create your own pages.
To get traffic we suggest you create your own web pages. To create your own pages, you may need an HTML education and a hosting account. This takes a little studying and patience to figure out, but learning how to build web pages is an investment worth your time. Here are some links to help you get started in making your own web pages.
If you submit the site we give you to the search engine, it probably won't do well because the search engine spiders often don't scan database driven websites, and since so many other affiliates are submitting our site, you are competing against pages that are already submitted.
2. Build several pages all linked together. Most search engines follow links on a page. So if you make ten pages and make one page that links to all ten, then you only have to submit the one page with ten links to the search engine. The search engine will find the 10 other pages.
You should also put a link on each page that links back to the main links page so that if a search engine finds one page it will follow the link to the main links page and eventually find all of your pages.
3. Use our Tools. We have several tools to help you build web pages. Log into our administration area and go to "Advanced Customization" for info on setting up links to our database and for info on grabbing our information. We have txt files of information, xml datafeeds updated daily, and more
4. Focus on specific Keywords. Search engines look at the domain name, the text on the page, the title on the page and more. Think of what key words you want to pull up your page and make sure those words are on your page. Also, less popular words may do better than words that everyone else is targeting. For example lots of people search for "sextoys" but lots of people also put that word in their website. A word like "dildo" may have many searches by surfers but may not have as many people using that word in their web pages so it could be easier to be number one for that keyword.
4. Make it easy for customers to order. Your pages should not be just filled with keywords. You should also have a picture, description, and a link to the main site for more information. Some affiliates create pages with great care and design and don't want to show the customers a link to our main generic site. That is up to you. The important thing is that you remember to not only get traffic, but also make it easy for them to order.
5. Be Patient and check results. Submit your pages to search engines and then you may have to wait a few months before you actually get listed. The biggest search engines are Yahoo, Google, and MSN. You can submit frequently, but don't submit the same domain more than once a day.
6. Sign
up and then build pages.
